Anyone know a suitable replacement for green stuff (modelling putty) and the location of its availability?

Isn't "modelling" putty different? Green stuff is pretty much like plasticine whereas the epoxy putty that I have seems like glue instead (squeezed out of tubes, very liquidy, etc etc)

Epoxy putty is like green stuff; comes in two plastic-wrapped wads; a white toothpaste-like clay and a rubbery kind of thing that looks like snot. You break off even pieces and roll em together. Problem is it's like 1/40th of the cost so it isn't designed specifically for minis work. You gotta work real quick with this stuff; it's best suited to molding tentacles, putting rivets and stuff.

Well, iinm, green stuff is epoxy putty, just a finer formulation for modelling. The stuff you can buy at hardware stores is used for minor repairs around the home.

How easy is it to work with for our purposes and how well does it hold its shape?

Dude! That's epoxy glue!!! Don't touch that stuff with your hands (it's poisonous), it'll stick anything. I used to used the 2-part epoxy glue but it's only good for large pieces like a warbeast body. It does fill gaps - when it's a little less runny, use a toothpick to smooth it over the cracks. For small pieces use superglue (aka cyanoacrylate) - it's stronger.

Epoxy resin is either like "green stuff" or the stuff that squee's talking about.
