Priming minis
Hi there,
Noob question here since I havent started painting my minis yet and everyone getting up on my @$$ to do so.
So... what do u guys use to prime before you slap on your base coat?
I know the "official" way to to prime using P3 or GW primer but that one cost like a tonne of cash.
Some guys suggested using the Anchor spray paint as they claim the acrylic paints stick well to it. I'm worried that those spray paints might cover up details as i think thier pigments are larger.
Another guy said he used "automotive primer"... whatever that is...
Can we use those Anchor primer paints? Are they the same?
So just shoot me up here on what you guys are using.
Thanks in advanced.
regards,
Peter

Re: Priming minis
Heard it from a friend, he says that Tamiya spray paints are quite nice. Although the size of the can is not as big as GW's, but it's quite cheap (maybe somewhere around 15~25 bucks?)

I use the RM6.50 anchor sprays, flat black. Works like a charm

Re: Priming minis
Tamiya cans are cheaper per can but its a small can. I think it is better to get GW. Invest in a GW primer because I tried 'automotive' primer and even though the paint might not be the worst in the world, the build quality of the nozzle is not very good. I got a can at home that sprays unevenly and droplets can be found escaping the nozzle. (yes, yes I tried shaking it properly) The paint is also very shiny and smell awful.
Pay good money for good quality imo. Priming is the most important part of the whole paining process.

You won't have the spotty problem if you place the can in a tub of warm water first. Not hot, warm. It's a trick I've learned from being cheap.

Re: Priming minis
Bosny flat white, spray far and thin coat.
Becareful when using spray marked primer for industrial use, because it I'd used to cover minor crack...
Always use black, normal paint hard to stick.

I tried Bosny before, but somehow it still gives a glossy finish after spray, and after I paint on, the paint will somehow chip of fairly easily...

Re: Priming minis
I don't think they are the best for metal miniatures but I could be wrong. Wouldn't mind it if it was for plastics. They don't chip After my Paladin incident with the Bosny spray... never again nasib baik sempat strip the paint, prime and repaint. lols.

Mr Hobby surfacer. Grip paint very well. Clean white. Need knowledge in using non- water based paint to use well.
