Spells
I think I'm still considered new in Warmachine, alot of basic things I'm still not sure yet. One thing I've always been confused with is Warcaster spells.
1. Can I upkeep a spell on something, then cast it on the same turn on somebody else, so two targets get the benefit?
2. I know I can cast the same spell multiple times, but is it that I can only cast an upkeep spell once per turn?
3. For Warcasters we use the Focus number +2d6, how about solos or units? Is it the number on the card on the list of spells?

Re: Spells
1-2.A spell can be cast multiple times but it only effects a same model once.
There is only can be 1 of the same upkeep spell active at all time but u can recast it just to change the target in another word the 1st target no longer effected by the upkeep spells
3.the dice rolling only need 2 be done when using a attacking spell. If buffs targeting friendly models its auto pass . as for solos without focus they have magic ability number use that to replace the focus number +2D6 as normal

Even though your queries have been answered, I shall reply to it just to increase my post count .
1. Yes you can. This is a trick that most people use in order for 2 units/models to get the upkeep spell's benefits.
e.g. Stryker upkept Snipe on the Defender. The Defender activates first, shooting and getting the most out of it. Stryker then activates, casting snipe on the Hunter. Hunter activates last, gaining snipe's RNG increase.
2. You can cast upkeep spell multiple times as per any other spell, but keep in mind that it will "override" your upkeep spell that was casted/upkept before that.
e.g. Strakhov upkeeps/casts Superiority on a Juggernaut. He then casts Superiority again on a Destroyer. As the Destroyer gets the upkeep spell, Superiority on Juggernaut expires.
3. For solos/units, you make a "skill check", which is the number beside the magic ability.
e.g. Koldun lord states the following:
magic ability [7]
- frostbite (*attack)
- ice cage (*attack)
- power booster (*action)
To make the frostbite magic attack, you use your magic ability value + 2d6 (7+2d6).
You should probably know that you need to make an attack roll if it is an offensive spell or a special attack (unless noted otherwise). Non-offensive spells do not require an attack roll i.e. boundless charge. The following might help reinforce this in your mind further:
In Warmachine, all spells have a 100% succesful cast rate (as long as you have the FOC required). What you need to roll for is to see whether it hits or not!
Re: Spells
I didn't see your reply earlier, but yeah, I was kinda wondering how one could "upkeep and recast the upkeep spell so 2 models can benefit from this spell a turn". NOW I get it, you'd have to do it after the first model the spell was up kept on has finished activation.
I'll keep it in mind the next time, thanks

Re: Spells
Question. Can two of the same upkeep spells from two different casters affect one target?
Like maybe, Irusk and Old Witch casting Iron Flesh on one unit?
...I'm guessing no because it sounds cheating.

Re: Spells
I'm saying very roughly here, but only one upkeep spell of that particular kind can be in play at a time.
So no, you cannot have 2 upkeep spells, even of the same kind, on one unit.

Re: Spells
Can't I then have iron flesh on two different unit?
It only says I can have one upkeep spell on one unit, so I assume I can have two caster casting the same spells but on different unit.
Neo, Butcher trick level 1,
Fury upkeep on Jug 1
Jug one attack
Activate Butcher, cast Fury on Jug 2
Jug 2 attack.
No need to rinse and repeat, target dead.

@jasechew: Well that's why my softcover rulebook stays at home. I only bring the printed final rules pdf that PP posted before the book was released.
